Hyundai SmartSense Features

Hyundai has put together a suite of intelligent sensors called Hyundai SmartSense, that will give you an extra boost of confidence when you’re behind the wheel. These ever-evolving features act as an extra set of eyes for you when you’re driving. The Hyundai SmartSense features include:

  • Lane Following Assist – This feature uses the front-view camera to detect lane makers and will assist the driver with keeping the vehicle centered in the designated lane.
  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection – This feature will alert the driver if a vehicle or pedestrian is detected in the vehicle's path. If the vehicle does not detect corrective measures being taken, it will automatically apply braking.
  • High Beam Assist – Remembering to turn your high beam on and off can be a hassle, which is why this feature will automatically do it for you by detecting oncoming vehicle headlights.
  • Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist – Your vehicle will scan your blind spot when you initiate your turning signal and will alert you if a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. Your vehicle may also automatically apply the left or right front brake before you change lanes.
  • Driver Attention Warning – This feature will monitor your driving habits, and if it detects that you are inattentive or drowsy, it will alert you using a sound cue that is also paired with a warning message on the instrument cluster.
  • Lane Keeping Assist – If your vehicle begins to drift in and out of the designated lane without using your turn signals, then it will warn you using visual and audio cues. If corrective actions are not taken, the vehicle will apply corrective steering assistance to keep you inside the lane.
  • Blind-Spot View Monitor – When you initiate your turn signal, your vehicle will scan your blind spot before making a lane change and display a live video feed on the digital instrument cluster.

Other common Hyundai safety features include:

  • Safe Exit Warning – When the vehicle is parked, it will use radars to help detect approaching vehicles from behind and will alert the driver before they exit the vehicle.
  • Rear Occupant Alert – This feature will remind you to check your backseat area for children or pets so they are not accidentally left inside after you park.
  • Parking Distance Warning – Front and Reverse – Sensors on the front and rear bumpers help detect objects you may not see from the driver’s seat.
  • Surround View Monitor – Cameras located on the vehicle's sides, rear, and front help display a bird’s-eye view on the touchscreen display.
