Hyundai Elantra: A Brief History

The Hyundai Elantra was first introduced in 1990 and first appeared in the United States in 1992. Instantly popular among drivers, the Elantra debuted as a four-door compact car. In 1995, the second generation of the Elantra began, bringing with it a wagon as an option. With each generation, it seems, the Hyundai Elantra put its best foot forward, bringing new features and offering new aspects to the beloved ride.

Speaking of changes, the third generation Elantra brought about several. The third generation lasted from 2000 to 2006. In 2001, the Elantra gained a new look by replacing the wagon with the Elantra GT. However, the Elantra GT wouldn't be around for love. In 2007, during the fourth generation, Hyundai replaced the Elantra GT with the Elantra Touring.

The fifth generation debuted in 2011. With this new generation, the Elantra received several updates to both the exterior and interior. In 2012, a revised powertrain was added. Over the years, the Elantra has changed quite a bit. Despite this, the Elantra continues to offer great features that appeals to drivers of all ages!
